Thanks to a generous grant from the Davis Family Foundation, the Scarborough Public Library has completed a series of technology and facility improvements designed to strengthen the library's public spaces and expand opportunities for learning, collaboration, and community engagement.
The project included the installation of a professional-grade projection system, screen, and audio equipment in the Community Meeting Room, as well as the addition of a portable interactive Smart Board that can be used throughout the library for programs, presentations, and workshops. Together with several other technology enhancements, these upgrades provide new ways for patrons of all ages to connect, learn, and participate in library programs.
The work was completed by Tucker and Tucker, a Scarborough-based company that has partnered with the library on previous projects. We were delighted to work with a local business known for its outstanding quality and expertise. These improvements are expected to benefit more than 8,000 active library users this year by expanding technology-based programming, supporting community meetings and presentations, enhancing virtual and hybrid events, and creating more opportunities for collaboration and lifelong learning.
While these upgrades address immediate needs, they also demonstrate how thoughtful investments in the library's facilities can improve services today while laying the groundwork for future growth. As the library continues planning for its next chapter, projects like this help ensure that Scarborough residents have access to welcoming, modern spaces that support learning, connection, and community for years to come.
